Eat Like a Caveman

That’s right, I eat like a caveman!

I told you in an earlier post that I had some health problems, and that I had to radically change my diet.

I now follow something called a paleo diet.

What the heck is that? It’s eating (or at least close to) the way our paleolithic ancestors eat over 10,000 years ago, and hunter gatherer cultures eat to this day.

The basic idea is simple : eat ONLY fruits, vegetables, and meat. Eat local, organic fruits and veggies, and meat that is pasture and grass-fed.

ALSO, cut out processed foods. Which means no more fast food, no more donuts, bread, pastries, cereal, frozen meals or ANYTHING that is processed. No more refined carbs of any sort, all my sugar comes from fruits and veggies (except for the occasional cheat meal!)

It’s not all that bad, I eat everything FULL FAT. But I eat REAL fats such as grass-fed butter and ghee, organic coconut oil, etc. I COMPLETELY AVOID partially hydrogenated vegetable oils.

CRAZY, huh?

The health benefits Shilpi and I have experienced are STAGGERING. Not just physically, but mentally as well.

    Hehe, I seriously don’t think our ancestors of 10,000 years ago could eat what we have today :-) .

    Though this diet is good only if you work mostly with your brain (which is perfect for Internet Marketers!), but is no good if you want to build some muscle: I used to keep to vegetables, but if you want to do any heavy muscle building or heavy work outs, you’ll be tired and starving your body, so you simply need to eat meals of of carbohydrates, proteins and fats, so the diet is not for everyone…

      Hey Nate

      Actually Paleo is PERFECT for athletes, which is why a lot of professional athletes are on paleo. I’ve seen HUGE gains at the gym, my personal trainer is blown away!

      With paleo you get everything your body needs: fat, protein, and carbs. No starvation involved, eat till your satiated. I’ll talk more about the general idea in the next post :)

    We should adopt to the above mentioned kind of eating habits, but in this fast moving world where both partners have to work this is something like mission impossible untill and unless you mom or grandma is staying with you.
