Consider this scenario…

Your business is humming along, you’re making a solid profit. So you get lazy, you let things run on autopilot.

Then one day you wake up 6 months later and you realize your profits are down by over 50% from what they were 6 months ago. You thought it was just a slow time in the market, and that things would pick up but no you realize it’s something more.

You’ve been schooled by increasing competition.

By the time your realize what’s happened, you’re F’d and might as well start something new.

I’ve personally been in this scenario and seen a lot of people fall prey to this.

So what’s the alternative?

Make consistent improvement to your business on a weekly, EVEN DAILY basis:

SPLIT TESTING

Split test your landing pages until your blue in the face. I don’t care if you can’t think of anything more to test, just make something up and TEST IT.

This is the ONE biggest thing I’ve been doing lately that has skyrocketed my profits and allowed me to blow past my competition.

Now you want to have a SOLID SYSTEM in place for split testing, whether it’s a custom php script or google website optimizer, or whatever. As long as it’s something you feel comfortable with and do NOT have to ask an outsourcer for help every time you want to setup a new split test.

Remember, the biggest key is here to consistently split test. 8 out of 10 of your split test will be duds, it’s the 1-2 that will skyrocket your profits. You gotta keep testing until you find those!

IMPROVE & EXPAND YOUR SITE

You need to be constantly be working on ways of improving your site content, adding more content, working on your search engine ranking and SEO.

It’s important to have a system in place to get these done, you do NOT need to be the person doing these.

COMPLIANCE

This one’s a big deal, that almost NO ONE gets. You have to constantly ask yourself : “How can I make my site and product offerings more compliant?”

and

“What are some of my most compliant competitors doing that I’m not?”

You can do all the split testing in the world and have a massive conversion rate. That’s gonna mean NOTHING if you get slapped by Google.

If THAT guy can build a billion dollar company, what can’t I, or any of you?

And you don’t even need a 100% new idea (we had myspace and friendster before facebook).

You just need to improving on an existing idea and have the vision to make it BIG.

So what’s my point?

Point is why are we fight for table scraps like mangey mutts??

With the skills, knowledge, and marketing expertise most of you have, you can build something BIG.

Think about that…with the same time and effort, why not shot for billions instead of millions?

In light of that I wanted to do a follow up post on what I’ve learned through this whole experience.

In a nutshell here’s the TOP 5 things I learned :

#1 NOTHING LAST FOREVER

No product, or traffic source lasts forever. In particular, if your business is dependent of ONE traffic source for 90% of your sales you’re treading on thin ice.

Whether it’s PPC, SEO, mail order or whatever, it can dry up FAST.

You NEED to have several SOLID traffic sources that are making you money.

As far as products, every product has a life cycle and unless your coming out with (or promoting) new product on a regular basis your business is on it’s way to a slow death.

#2 SAVE MONEY FOR A RAINY DAY

I had a good chunk of change saved up in the form of liquid assets that got me through these last 6 months, and paid for my investment costs.

#3 FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE & DON’T LET FEAR TAKE HOLD

Fear is the only thing that will cause you pain, keep focusing on what you’re trying to accomplish and get busy working towards it.

The more you focus on the past and what you could have done differently OR on what will happen if you were to fail, the more pain you cause yourself.

EXPECT to WIN. And keep working towards building (or re-building) your business.

I know the feeling of FEAR. Fear so bad that your stomach and back starts hurting.

When you push forward in spite of that level of fear, NOTHING WILL STOP YOU.

#4 YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU’RE CAPABLE OF

Until you’re pushed WAY out of your confort zone, you have no idea how POWERFUL YOU REALLY ARE.

There’s a power within you that is GREATER than any obstacle you’ll ever face.

#5 BURN YOUR BRIDGES

My mindset has always been : “I will succeed or die trying!”

If you don’t burn your bridges, you’re NOT a 100% committed.

If you’re not 100% committed, you’re dead in the water.

So I’ll make this quick…

I want to talk about a critically important strategy when it comes to learning. The SCARY fact is most people have it all wrong.

Here’s what the typical newbie looking to make money online does:

1. See an exciting product some guru is promoting.
2. Buys the product thinking : “Oh this is GREAT. I may not do this now, but I should know it and I may need it in the future.”
3. Goes through a few modules of the product then jumps on to the next hot product launch. Yeah, some people go through the ENTIRE product, but as I’m about to explain it doesn’t make much difference either way.

Sound eerily familiar to some of you?

Going through courses because “I might need ‘em later” is called Just in Case Learning. You’re learning it (if you actually go through the course) just in case you might need it.

I’ll tell you right now if that’s your strategy for building your online business YOU’RE DEAD IN THE WATER.

All of the successful entrepreneurs that I’ve ever met (and little ‘ol me) use this strategy for learning…

When I purchase an IM product I have a VERY specific goal in mind, I want to learn a specific skill or strategy from that product that I need to learn in my business at that time.

For example, I went through Frank Kern’s Mass Control before Anik and I launched PPC Classroom 2.0 last Oct. I wanted to learn the specific product launch and selling strategy detailed in that course.

This is called Just in Time Learning, that is, learning a particular skill or strategy at the time you need it in your business.

This is a WAY more powerful way to learn because not only is the information fresh in your brain before you apply it, going through a IM product with the MINDSET and MOTIVATION of how you’re going to immediately apply the strategies to your business takes your learning to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL.

Plus, by immediately applying what you’ve just learned you hardwire the information into your brain. One of the best ways of learning something is doing it. Which is why you had to do homework in school!

The BEST way of really mastering something is teaching it, and that’s one of my motivations for doing this blog!

Once I hit $10k profit in one month; my belief and confidence skyrocketed; I had no trouble growing that to $20k/month profit and quitting my job.

Now the real question is: HOW did I get to the point where I raised my belief high enough to get to $10k/month – my first big success?!?

My lack of belief in myself is what kept me broke and struggling for many years. I started my journey toward financial freedom when I was 24, and didn’t become a millionaire until I was 29.

It took me 6 YEARS, and 4.5 of those years I had NOTHING to show for busting my butt day after day.

I could have quit ANY TIME in those 4.5 years, but I didn’t. I had something inside of me that kept pushing me.

To this day I don’t know what it was that kept me going, but I kept going and going no matter how many times I got knocked down.

Looking back I realized that those 4.5 years are largely what made me the man I am today. It gave me the iron will to succeed and to some degree the belief to succeed as well.

I say ‘some degree’ because I eventually stumbled upon a very powerful technique to raising my belief level that finally allowed me to shatter through my pattern of failure and reach that first big success that would be the catalyst for everything that followed.

Here’s the technique….

Everyday while driving to work that I hated through bumper to bumper traffic I yelled out:

“I easily make $10k/month profit through my affiliate marketing business.”

I did it with EMOTION, over and over again.

Now I know some of you are thinking : “Oh NO, not that positive affirmation crap. Amit, that stuff doesn’t work!”

I does work, but only if you’re taking consistent and persistent action towards hitting the goal that you’re affirming.

You see, your subconscious mind believes anything you tell it over and over again with emotion. It can’t tell the difference between what’s real and imagined.

Once your subconscious BELIEVES that you’re a super affiliate making $10k/month profit, then it will go to work to make it HAPPEN.

I know this is weird and uncomfortable to do at first, but it WORKS! Once you’re subconscious believes it’s a REALITY than NOTHING can stop you from hitting your goal.

Yet I make well over 10 times more than they do.

How is that possible?

How is it that successful entrepreneurs can make so much more than an employee that’s trading hours for dollars?
